Keen viewers watch on as it happened and commented via the Commonwealths Youtube Channel live stream from the comfort of their homes around the world.
Before the opening ceremony, the team have been training at the venues where the competition will take place.
The swimmers are enjoying the world-class facilities, adapting to the 50-meter pool which is slightly upmarket from St Helena’s pool, whilst Blaze is enjoying training at the track, Blaze also had the opportunity to use the ice bath to help release his leg muscles yesterday as he continues to prep for the competition.
The team also met up with the team from the Falkland Islands and it is thought there is a competitor from Turks and Caicos who has St Helena roots
Team St Helena will dive into the games with the swimming competition starting on Sunday the 6th of August.
